Homemade Coconut Butter. Kokosové maslo.

I had a thought. If we can make amazing and delicious butters out of nuts and seeds (peanut butter, almond butter, pumpkin seed butter.. sunflower seed and hazelnut butter is my latest favourite one).. Why not trying to make coconut butter?! So I gave it a try and I am not going back to live coconut butter free life ever again. This butter will convince every coconut hater (are there people like that?).

Once your butter will be ready and you transfer it to some beautiful jar, it is ready to please you anytime. It great scooped out of a jar with a spoon  tablespoon; delicious as a luxurious spread over sourdough toast with a pinch of ground cinnamon; it is divine added to smoothies, shakes, porridge for extra creaminess; you could also use it in creamy sauces, curries or soups for the ´final touch´. Honestly, the possibilities are endless.

And frankly, this might be the easiest ´recipe´ I´ll ever share with you. The only thing you need for making this luxurious and heavenly tasting coconut butter is – wait for it – coconut. Shredded coconut and a food processor. That´s it!

know that some people are put off about eating coconuts because of their high fat content, but don´t you worry. You really can go nuts about coconuts. The pacific Islanders believe that coconuts are the cure for all illness. I guess that´s the reason why the palm tree, from which coconuts are grown, is called ´The Tree of Life´. I don´t advice you to eat coconuts only, but if you are not addicted to coconut already, you might consider this as a future option. :)

Coconuts are antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial and anti-parasitic – they kill harmul bacteria, viruses and parasites. They are yummy source of fibre, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. It is a great source of potassium, calcium, magnesium. Coconuts support your immunity and boost your metabolism, fight infections, regulate hormones, stabilise glucose levels, improve digestion. And to top it all up – it just tastes great in whatever form you eat it. The flesh, the milk, the water, the shavings.

So, let´s make some delicious butter that will become your best friend.


Coconut Butter

2 cups of shredded coconut, unsweetened(try to buy organic as you can really taste the difference)

Put your coconut into a food processor and blend until a thick butter starts to form. You might need to stop a couple of times just to scrape down the sides of your food processor. Continue blending until you have a beautifully rich and creamy butter. Transfer your butter into a clean jar and store at room temperature for up to 2-3 months. But again, it won´t last that long. It is highly addictive! :)

Ak si mozu ludia sami doma spravit uzasne chutne masla z roznych orieskov a semiacok (ako napriklad arasidove maslo, mandlove maslo, maslo zo slnecnicovych alebo tekvicovych semiacok..alebo aj z kombinacie slnecnicovych semiacok a liskovcov – co je teraz moja najoblubenejsia kombinacia), preco by sme nemohli spravit maslo aj z kokosu?! Technicky to nie je orech, ale ovocie, no aj tak. Tak som to skusila. A poviem vam, uz sa nikdy nevratim do zivota, kde som zila coconut butter-free. Toto maslo je taka mensia revolucia v mojej kuchyni, uz nan nedam dopustit. A poviem vam, ze ak je medzi vami niekto, kto naozaj nemusi kokos (pravdupovediac, je taky niekto na svete?!), toto uzasne luxusne maslo ho presvedci ako sa do kokosu zalubit.

Ked uz budete mat vase kokosove masielko hotove a prelozene vo flaske, bude pripravene potesit vas zakazdym, co si don zaborite lyzicku lyzicu. Je uzasne samo o sebe priamo z flase, vychutnane s tou najvacsou lyzicou aku doma mate; je skvele na kusku hrianky z kvaskoveho chlebika a posypane troskou mletej skorice; chuti neodolatelne, ked si ho pridate do smoothies, ´sejkov´ alebo ranajkovej kase – pridava finalnemu vysledku na extra kremovitosti; taktiez ho mozte pridat na dokoncovanie polievok, kremovych omacok alebo do indickych kari. Ak mam byt uprimna, tych moznosti, ako si vychutnat toto masielko, je nekonecne vela.

Pravdupovediac, toto je asi ten najjednoduchsi ´recept´ aky s vami budem kedy zdielat. Jednoduchsie to byt uz naozaj nemoze. Jedinu vec, ktoru potrebujete na vyrobu tejto maskrty je – pockajte si na to – kokos. Struhany kokos a ku tomu mixer, co si myslim, ze urcite doma mate. A ak ho nahodou´nemate, toto je jeden z dovodov, preco si ho kupit. :)

Viem, ze niektori ludia sa strania od pojedania kokosu, pre jeho mnozstvo tuku, ale nebojte sa. Dajte vsetky obavy bokom, pretoze je kokos je podla obyvatelov Tichomorskych ostrovov znamy ako ´Strom zivota´, pretoze veria, ze kokos je liekom na kazdu chorobu. Nie, neodporucam vam jest LEN kokos, ale urcite si ho zaradte do stravy a zvazte moznost stat sa zavislym na kokose co najskor. :)
Kokos ma protizapalove ucinky, bojuje proti parazitom v tele. Je to vyborny a chutny zdroj vlakniny, vitaminov, mineralov a zdraviu prospesnych tukov. Vyborny zdroj draslika, vapnika, magnezia.

Kokos podporuje vas imunitny system, podporuje travenie, bojuje proti infekciam v tele, reguluje hormony v tele, zlepsuje vyprazdnovanie, pomaha normalizovat hladinu cukru v krvi. A aby toho nebolo malo – jednoducho chuti uzasne v hocijakej forme si ho doprajete. Ci sa rozhodnete pit kokosove mlieko alebo kokosovu vodu, alebo maskrtit na kokosovych lupienkoch ci na tomto masielku.

Takze podme na to, podme si vyrobit maslo, ktore sa stane vasim najlepsim priatelom.


Kokosové maslo

2 salky struhaneho kokosu, nesladeneho (skuste si zakupit struhany kokos organicky-naozaj tam je citit rozdiel)

Nasypte si kokos do mixera (mozte aj viac ako dve salky, to som uviedla ako minimum), zavrite mixer, zapnite mixer na najvyssi vykon a uz len sledujte ako sa vam z kokosu zacne vytvarat mokrejsi piesok. Sem tam mixer vypnite, zoskrabte kokos ktory sa nalepil na strany mixera, znova mixer zatvorte a zapnite. Mixujte az dovtedy, dokym vam nevznikne jemna a husta ´kašička´, teda maslo. V tomto momente si maslo prelejte do nejakej peknej flasky, zatvorte a pogratulujte si. Prave ste si yvrobili vlastne a velmi chutne kokosove maslo. Skladujte niekde na policke po dobu 2-3 mesiacov, ale vravim vam, tak dlho nevydrzi, lebo je vysoko navykove! :)
